VIRGINIA CITY!! The Queen of the Mining Towns. And what a town she still is today. For everything you could possibly want to know about this grandest of the grand ol gals visit www.virginiacity-nv.com.Hanging off the side of Mt. Davidson, there is no place in Nevada that I'd rather go. A beer in the Bucket of Blood, a few hands of poker in one of several saloons, sitting in the Piper Opera House or even listening to a concert there....ah this town has it all! Mark Twain worked here at the Territorial Enterprise. The Bank of California experienced a scandal as a result of activities here. The mansions are phenomenal. So check it out, online and then in person. |
And we can't overlook Tonopah! Here is a mining town still thriving and doing a wonderful job of hanging on to the old. For info, visit www.tonopahnevada.com and check out the Central Nevada Museum and the Tonopah Historic Mining Park. Wyatt Earp was a partner in the Northern in Tonopah in 1902. This city was one of the last real wild mining boom towns in the country. To see some pictures taken in 2005 click HERE |
