During the early 1980's I spent four years researching the Little
Falls and Dolgeville Railroad. This shortline actually ran into the Adirondack Mountains as far as Jersey Field Lake, but ran passenger service from Salisbury Center to Little Falls, where the New York Central maintained a passenger station connecting everyone with the rest of the country. This little line is a history of US railroads in capsule. Great dreams, construction through extreme conditions, bankruptcy both corporate and Alfred Dolge's individual failure, great engines, a few wrecks
and slow death only to be buried in 1964. The complete story was told in two paperback volumes in 1986 and 1987 in The Little Falls & Dolgeville Railroad-72 years of shortline and Into Salisbury Country. Both of these books have been out of print for 15 years. In fact, I spent 30 dollars for a copy of Into Salisbury Country just to complete this CD project!!! Why CD and not paper reproduction? Cost,
